Last week, I wrote to you from the lobby of a hotel in Corpus Christi, Texas, where I had attended and spoke at the funeral of my first cousin’s 34-year-old daughter. It’s been a summer on the road for our family and, as I write this in between taking headshots for a future “Nutcracker” program, we’re getting ready to be on the move again.
This time, it’s a trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where we will be joined at various points by our four adult children, their spouses/significant others, two grandchildren and at least two family pets. It’s the familial version of hurricane season.
That’s a joke, of course. But this is a nostalgic trip in a lot of ways. The first time we took our kids to the beach was in, gulp, 1999. The last time we all were together in the sand was in 2014.
Amazing how time flies.
When we return next Saturday, it will end a streak of six straight without a full weekend at home. Since the middle of May, Jill and I have been home for only three full weekends at the same time. But that’s what happens when you have a large family that leads busy lives, and although I can’t wait to sleep in my own bed for an extended period, in many respects I wouldn’t have it any other way.
So let’s get to this week’s photos. As always, I hope you’ll leave a like and a comment about what you’ve read or seen. Feedback is always welcome. And the thanks I send to you for taking the time to visit is both abundant and sincere.
Hope you have a great week!
Texas Latin Records (and pinatas)! Wow, what a lead-off that made me giggle to find it is NOT where I thought it would be. The anticipation of identifying the black & white as the Mercantile Building was satisfied. City roads and country roads all to yourself ~ a couple of nice scenes. Nice, nice, nice!
