Clocks are moving forward by an hour tonight, a forced falsehood that tells us spring eventually will arrive. While I appreciate the extra light, I would appreciate the sleep more.
For some reason, Daylight Savings Time and I have never agreed with each other. When I worked nights, it didn’t matter as much, except when I had to go in on Sundays and lost the hour. But that was half a lifetime ago, and now that I’ve shifted and become a morning person, the shift has messed with my body clock and sense of rhythm.
I am looking forward to spring, though. The first couple of months are always slow on the freelance front, but they start to pick up when the calendar turns to March. I’m also working to sell and promote my photo book locally.
Travel and activities also have picked up. We were in Chapel Hill/Durham, N.C., 10 days ago, followed by our granddaughter’s 2-year-old birthday party, a hockey game/business meeting, and a 32-hour trip to New York for photos, an art exhibit, and a quick visit with biological and extended family members.
All of that activity is one reason this installment of “Another 52 Weeks” is running late today. Several of the photos this week are from those recent outings, and I’m bookending it with photos I took in New York — one this week, and one during the pandemic.
As always, thank you for taking a minute to look, like, and comment. Any and all feedback is always welcome.
The last image is from my first photo book — Keep Your Distance: Walking Through the First Year of COVID. The book is available now — printed copies are here (!) and shipping next week. I’ve also started a recap of the Social Distancing Diary from 2020 that serves as supplemental materials from the book. If you missed the first one, check it out below.
Finding Structure in Chaos
Memory is a funny thing, the moments and experiences we keep and the ones we discard, or at least think we do.
And, I’ve gotta say, it’s pretty exciting to see something you’ve worked on for so long finally arrive in a stack of cardboard boxes.
I love Parking spot and Alone
Oh, how exciting to see the cover of your book! Can’t wait for it to arrive.
