More people /should/ read the Moving Forward series. It is important work that resonates. And in an age where the discussion around gun violence is often reduced to tweets and platitudes, it's a very real reminder that there are very real lives torn apart after every incident.

I love this — all of it. It strikes a chord with me when I wonder “Who am I?” — especially after retiring, but also before that when I too was laid off. I miss Cecile; she was a remarkable woman.

As I was reading the article about Summerton, I reflected back on my feelings when the 4 small school districts in Rockingham County merged 30 years ago. The first year of merger was the most difficult year in my 38 years in education.
